Griffin Motorwerke was founded in 1981 on the belief that there needed to be a high quality, high performance auto repair shop in the San Francisco Bay Area. Since our first day of business we have dedicated ourselves to delivering that level of service to our customers.

In 1980, Terry Griffin worked at a Volkswagen dealership in Oakland, California. As a line mechanic he saw a level of customer service that was marginal at best. Instead of being happy about the service they received at the dealership many customers voiced their dissatisfaction, but to a deaf management. He realized this was a terrible customer service model and moved 180 degrees from it when he opened Griffin Motorwerke. Terry wanted Griffin Motorwerke to be recognized as a shop people could trust their cars with. He hoped to be considered more like a family doctor, someone who would take the time to help customers understand their cars. His customers learned quickly to appreciate this kind of treatment and still enjoy learning from Terry today.

It is very important that people understand that all of the employees Griffin Motorwerke are serious "Gearheads." Everyone who works with us is involved in the business by choice, not necessity. Our common bond is auto racing and doing high performance modifications to the cars we work on. This enthusiasm and dedication to customer service is what we at Griffin Motorwerke are all about.
